6th Kabaddi World Cup 2016 – November 3 to November 17

Punjab deputy CM Sr. Sukhbir Singh Badal announced that the 6th Kabaddi World Cup 2016 would be held from November 3 to November 17.

He has approved the names of proposed teams which include India, Pakistan, Argentina, USA, UK, Scotland, Canada, Seora Leon, Spain, Kenya and Denmark in men’s competition.

The teams in women’s category will be from India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Kenya, UK, Malaysia, Denmark and Mexico.

This time the total prize money is Rs 7 crore out of which title winners in men and women categories would get Rs 2 crore and Rs 1 crore respectively, an official release said.

Rs 1 crore would be given to runner-up men’s team whereas in women’s category it would be Rs 51 lakh.

The opening ceremony will be organize at Roopnagar whereas Jalalabad would witness the closing ceremony.

Jalalabad, Chohla Sahib, Sangrur, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Roopnagar, Khanna and Mansa have been selected for other kabaddi matches, the spokesman said.

Sukhbir instructed to conduct dope tests of players to ensure drug free World Cup and also approved the amount of Rs 40 lakh for the same.

Punjab State Government would present 4th World Kabaddi Cup from 30 November to 14 December. This outstanding decision was taken in a important meeting held here under the Chairmanship of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sr. Sukhbir Singh Badal. The 2013 World Kabaddi Cup will ne held from 30 November to 14 December.
They said that the state government was committed to ensure dope free kabaddi matches and for this purpose dope test would be mandatory for each Kabaddi player. He said that any player found guilty in dope test would be banned and every participating team has been asked to conduct dope test of its each player before the start of tournament also.

He said that it was a matter of pride that non-Punjabi players have also shown great interest in this traditional Punjabi game and expressed confidence that in 4th World Kabaddi Cup each participating team would be comprised of its native players.

Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the 4th edition of Kabaddi World Cup 2013 will be held in the 2nd half of November month, in which 25 countries will participate. Punjab would seek more participation from Europe, Africa, USA, Australia and other non representative sub-continents to give Kabaddi a world-class status.
